PART ONE REVIEW QUIZ

this Review Quiz to help yourself to evaluate how well you are learning and retaining the material in the
lessons.
MEMORY VERSES
If you have found an effective way to work on the Memory Verses from the first four lessons, please
continue to use it! If not, don’t despair. Here are a few tips to help you improve:
1. Many people are threatened by the idea of memorizing anything! Yet they have no problem with
remembering vast amounts of information. How did you “learn” the words to many popular songs during
your teen years? Not by study, not by trying to formally memorize them, but rather by hearing them over and
over and repeating the words to yourself. Try approaching scriptures in the same way. Just read them out
loud frequently, without struggling to “memorize” them. You may be surprised to find out you soon can
finish the quotations with just a few words to start you off.
2. The main purpose for Memory Verses is to equip you with Bible concepts to apply to your daily life. If
you have been particularly stressed by straining to memorize the “chapter and verse” title of each scripture,
ease up on yourself. Don’t forget- Jesus and the Apostles NEVER used chapter and verse references
when preaching! Why? Because the chapter and verse divisions of the Bible were added centuries later.
They are convenient, but not an “inspired” part of the original manuscripts! It is certainly helpful to use them
when available, but with so many “Bible helps” out there, including concordances, you can easily look up a
scripture when necessary to share with someone else, if you just can remember some key words in the
passage you want. Many people find memorizing the chapter and verse titles so difficult they abandon all
effort to memorize scripture at all, and that is a real shame.
3. Don’t get so hung up on trying to remember every little “thee and ye” that you don’t focus on what the
scripture means. Better to remember the basic concept, and get the wording just a little wrong, than get the
wording letter-perfect now, yet not be able to remember the scripture itself–and its meaning– when you
really need it!
QUIZ GUIDELINES
The quizzes with these lessons are to help you evaluate your own progress and see where you might need
more study, not help someone else give you a “grade” like you got back in school. No one will be looking
over your shoulder to see how you do the quiz. But to get the most out of it, it would be good if you would
take some time before you tackle the quiz to review the past four lessons and refresh your mind on some of
the concepts. Then try to answer all of the questions without consulting the lessons.
When you have finished, feel free to compare your answers to the written material in the lessons.
