Accountability is something that we inherently do not relish as humans.
Matthew 28:19,20
A¬- Jesus commands us to make disciples.
B Disciples are made by baptizing them and then teaching them to obey
everything God commands.
Hebrews 5:13,14
A- Babes in Christ, who feed on the milk, are not used to the Word and
cannot fully tell the deference between good and evil.
B Those who learn the truth and practice what they’ve learned are able to
discern between good and evil.
C Maturity is achieved throughout the use of the Word. (We must be fed
milk first, then solid food).
I Peter 2:1 2
A- We are to rid ourselves of all these evil things.
B- We are to crave pure spiritual milk (as babes) to grow up in our salvation.
I Corinthians 3:1,2
A- A newborn Christian is worldly and needs to mature spiritually.
(Change from carnal to spiritual).
B- Solid food is for the mature Christian; Infants need the spiritual milk of
the Word.
Titus 1:1
A The knowledge of the truth leads to godliness.
Malachi 3:2,3
A Jesus is the refiner’s fire. (The pure fire)
B- Jesus is the launderer’s soap. (The cleanser)
C- Jesus purifies the Levites:
1 In 0.T. Levites = priests of Israel
2 In N.T. Christian = priest (I Peter 2:9)
D- Purification allows us to become holy and blameless to God. It
allows us to get closer to God.
Now, the question is: what agents does God use to help you become mature and purified? Are you held accountable to grow and change?
That’s where mentorship comes in.
FIVE AGENTS OF MENTORSHIP
GOD HOLDS YOU ACCOUNTABLE
Hebrews 12:1-11
A The Lord disciplines those He loves, those who are His children.
B- Don’t give up when you’re disciplined it’s for your own good.
C If you are not disciplined, you are an illegitimate chil¬d and not a child of
God.
D God’s discipline causes you to live.
E- His discipline brings about righteousness and holi¬ness.
F Discipline seems unpleasant at the time, but its product is peace and
righteousness.

WE HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE
Ezekiel 3:18 21
A You are to be your brother’s keeper.
B You must encourage your brothers to continue in right¬eousness, and
point out one another’s sins.
C- If you don’t do this you will be held accountable.

A You are to imitate the faith of those who lead you (III John 11
Imitate what is good).
B- You are to obey your leaders and submit to them for they keep watch
over you.

D It is not profitable to grieve your church leaders.
YOU HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE

A God gave you the power to discipline yourself.
I Timothy 4:7,8
A You have to train yourself to be godly.
B This discipline will hold promise for this life and the life to
come.
I Timothy 4:16
A Pay close attention to your life and to your doctrine.
B Persevere in them so that you may save yourself and those who hear you.
It is through these five agents of mentorship that God will be able to call you higher, to purify you and make you holy and blameless so that He can present you to Himself with joy. His discipline strengthens us in our Christian walk and helps us to be better servants of our fellow men in bringing them the good news of the Kingdom of God.
